Create API key

Quickstart · four moves

Make one call
worth repeating.

Why one call

Start small: select a model, send one representative request, read the response, then move forward with evidence instead of assumptions.

Four moves

01Choose the taskPick the work before the model.
02Send one real shapeUse the payload production will use.
03Read the resultCheck the shape, not just the text.
04Keep the receiptKeep the response beside the decision.

The first request

Nothing here needs a new SDK.

Replace the key, replace the model identifier, keep the rest. If this returns a message, the route is open and the rest is a matter of which family you name.

A submission response is not completion. That rule only matters for the asynchronous path, which is why it is called out separately.

Request

export AIWAVE_API_KEY="your-key"

curl https://aiwave.live/v1/chat/completions \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $AIWAVE_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"model":"your-model-id",
       "messages":[{"role":"user",
                    "content":"One representative request."}]}'

What comes back

{
  "id": "chatcmpl_example",
  "model": "your-model-id",
  "choices": [{"message": {
    "role": "assistant",
    "content": "Representative response."
  }}],
  "usage": {"total_tokens": 0}
}
